1. find a middle ground 妥協
這句話其實相當于compromise，就是「妥協」的意思。兩個各持己見的人，唯有找到雙方都滿意的中間點，才能真正解決問題，停止爭吵。這和中文里的`「退一步，海闊天空」，有異曲同工之妙。
A: My sister and I fight all the time. She always thinks I'm unfair to her.
我姊姊和我老是吵架。她總覺得我對她不好。
B:You two need to find a middle ground. That's fair for both of you.
你們兩個要互相忍讓。那樣對你們兩個都好。
2. It takes two to tango. 一個巴掌拍不響。
tango「探戈」這種舞蹈，常需要兩人有高度的默契，才能夠互相配合，所以若是兩人不同心，就無法跳出探戈的美。這句話引申的意思是，某一件事的發生，其實參與其中的兩個人都有分，畢竟一個巴掌拍不響。
A:It's not all Tim's fault, you know.
你知道，這不全然是提姆的錯。
B:I know, Dad. It takes two to tango. But I tried harder than he did to make it work.
我知道，老爸。一個巴掌拍不響。但我比他更努力想讓這件事成功。
