　　Junior(三年級生)：高中、學院或大學的三年級學生。

　　Leave of Absence(準假)：準許學習成績優良的學生請假一段時間，然后繼續學業。

　　Lecture(講課)：學院和大學課程的普通教授法。教授在由二十名到幾百名學生組成的課堂上講課，輔之以由助教指導的定期小組討論。

　　Liberal Arts(或“Liberal Arts and Sciences”,或“ArtsandSciences”)(文理科)：泛指人文學科(語言、文學、哲學、藝術)、社會科學(經濟學、社會學、人類學、歷史學、政治學)和自然科學(數學、物理、化學)各學科。

　　Loan(貸款)：給學生預支一定數額的款項，以便他們能夠完成學業，要求學生離校后以現金或勞務逐步償還。

　　Lower Division(低年級)：大學本科一、二年級。

　　Major(主修科目)：學生集中攻讀的科目或專業領域。大學本科生通常在頭兩年學習文理科普通課程，然后再選擇一門主修科目。

　　Masters Degree(碩士學位)：高等院校向在獲得學士學位后修滿至少一年課程并達到一定學術要求的學生頒發的學位。

　　Matriculate(錄取)：由大學或學院正式招收入學。

　　Mid-term(期中考試)：學期中間舉行的考試。

　　Ex:It stands to reason that too many shopping choices can be as bad as too few.

　　Ex:If you drink too much coffee a day, it stands to reason that your health will suffer.
