　　第一節 (共5小題;每小題1.5分，滿分7.5分)

　　聽下面5段對話。每段對話后有一個小題，從題中所給的A、B、C三個選項中選出最佳選項。聽完每段對話后，你都有10秒鐘的時間來回答有關小題和閱讀下一小題。每段對話僅讀一遍。

　　M: What’s going on over there, Mom?

　　W: The visitors are watching a performance by animals.

　　M: What time do you think would be OK for me to come?

　　W: How about 9:00?

　　M: Can we make it 30 minutes earlier, as I’ll have a meeting at 9:30.

　　W: No problem.

　　W: Hello, is George there?

　　M: No, this is his father. Can I take a message?

　　W: Yes. Please tell him that Joan called. The party is on Friday night at Sally’s flat. It starts at about 8 o’clock. Could you ask him to bring some of his music CDs?

　　W: Hi! How do you feel today?

　　M: Much better now. Thank you for your concern.

　　W: You’re looking better, but you still need lots of rest.

　　W: I didn’t think much of that performance. I couldn’t hear the lead singer at all.

　　W: Hi, Tim. Come in. I’m meeting with all the students to talk about their class research projects. Can you tell me what you’re planning to write about?

　　M: I’m thinking about the Indian civilization in the southeast desert states. When I traveled there last summer, I got really interested in these people, and I’ve found some good sources of information about them. Maybe I will focus on why their civilization suddenly ended in about the year 1400.

　　W: That sounds very interesting, and it looks like you’ve got a good start.

　　M: Yes, I think so.

　　W: Good, if you need any help, come in and let’s talk about it.

　　W: I can’t go because I’m very busy doing some chemistry experiments in the lab.

　　My name is Rick White. Rick is short for Richard. I was born in 1987 in Canada, where my father was working as a doctor. It was a small town called Rock View, near Calgary in Alberta. After 12 years, I think, my father moved to the United States for a couple of years, before finally coming across to England.

　　I’m now studying for some quite important exams. They are called “A levels”, and I shall be taking four different subjects, including information technology. If I do well enough, I will continue with my education at university, where I would like to study computer science. I have already taken and passed eight different subjects at a lower level, called GCSE. In England, people normally take these exams at about the age of 15 or 16.
