　　序數詞的讀法

　　小數含小數點的數字，小數點"."讀"point"，小數點后的數若是兩位以上，則分別讀出。

　　年代及日期的讀法數字表示的年份通常分成兩半來說：

　　2000B.C.讀作：twothousandBC1558讀作：fifteenfifty-eight1603讀作：sixteen(hundredand)three/sixteenohthree921讀作：ninetwenty-one

　　日期的表達英式和美式有所不同，請注意區別：英式先寫日子，美式先寫月份

　　英：1999年4月6日=6thAprill999美：1999年4月6日=April61999在讀法上，英國人有兩種表達方式：

　　Aprilthesixth，nineteenninety-nineThesixthofApril，nineteenninety-nine

　　美國人則一般這樣表示：

　　Aprilsixth，nineteenninety-nine(省略"the")

　　鐘點的讀法鐘點的讀法分英式和美式兩種，我們應對此加以注意。英：

　　7：00sevenoclocka.m./p.m.8：15aquarterpasteight/eightfifteen9：30halfpastnine/ninethirty9：45aquartertoten/nineforty-five10：03three(minutes)pastten/tenohthree美用法基本相似，只是英國用past之處，美國通常用after；英國用to之處，美國常用of。

　　基數詞的讀法

　　基數詞可以采用逗號確定法。有一個逗號讀thousand，兩個逗號讀million，三個逗號讀billion。例如：

　　10,234 讀作 ten thousand two hundred (and) thirty-four

　　6,153,708 讀作 six million one hundred (and) fifty-three thousand seven hundred (and) eight

　　26,411133,218 讀作 twenty-six billion four hundred (and) eleven million one hundred (and) thirty-three thousand two hundred (and) eighteen

　　從以上一組數字可以看出，逗號在記錄數字時可以幫大忙。當我們聽到若干thousand時，立即寫下這個數字，并在其后打一逗號，留出3位；當聽到若干million時，寫下數字，并在其后打一逗號，留出6位，聽到若干billion，方法同上，后面的million，thousand依此法類推，讓所有數字各就其位。

　　序數詞的讀法

　　序數詞是表示順序的數詞。除了first，second，third外，大多數的序數詞都是在相應的基數詞末尾加-th構成，只有部分在拼寫方法上略有變動。前面一般要加定冠詞，例如：

　　4th 讀作 the fourth

　　20th 讀作 the twentieth

　　分數的讀法

　　分數中分子用基數詞表示，分母用序數詞表示。先讀分子，后讀分母。分子大于1分母用序數詞表達時要用復數形式。例如：

　　1/2 讀作 one half

　　2/3 讀作 two thirds

　　3/4 讀作 three quarters

　　比較復雜的分數用over表示，例如：

　　23/79 讀作 twenty-three over seventy-nine

　　小數的讀法

　　小數點讀作point，小數點后各位數字要分別按照單個基數詞讀，小數點前的數字若為0可略去不讀。例如：

　　7.145 讀作 seven point one four five

　　0.138 讀作 (zero) point one three eight

　　百分數的讀法

　　讀百分數只需要在數字后面加"percent"。例如：

　　87.34％讀作 eighty-seven point three four percent

　　時間的讀法

　　一般先讀分鐘，再讀介詞past/ to，然后讀小時。若分鐘為154530 可以用quarter，half。在30分鐘之內的，用past，表示“幾點過了幾分”；超過30分鐘，用介詞to，但小時數要加1表示“幾點還差幾分”。例如：

　　7:04 讀作 four past seven

　　11:30 讀作 half past eleven

　　9:55 讀作 five to ten

　　美式英語中，常用after代替past，用before代替to。另外，聽力中經常出現的發車時間，到站時間一般不讀介詞。例如：

　　4:30 p.m. 讀作 four-thirty p.m.

　　年代與日期的讀法

　　數字表示的年份通常分成兩半讀。例如：

　　1949 讀作 nineteen fourty-nine

　　讀日期的順序一般為月日年。例如：

　　1986年8月10日讀作 August (the) tenth，nineteen eighty-six

　　8價格的讀法

　　讀價格首先要注意單位，英國有pound(s)，penny，pence，美國有dollar(s)，cent(s) ，美國的硬幣還有quarter (=25cents)，dime (=10 cents)，nickel (=5cents)。在聽寫的時候，要記得寫上數字和貨幣單位才是完整的價格。書寫時可以使用貨幣符號，以節省時間。同時，對貨幣單位的換算也要熟悉。讀具體價格需要注意帶零頭的數字，例如：

　　$3.35 讀作 three (dollars) thirty-five (cents)

　　￡3.35 讀作 three (pounds) thirty-five (pence)

　　基數詞的讀法

　　我們先從基數詞人手。首先掌握三位以內數字的讀法，因為它是多位數字的基礎，一旦熟練掌握，再借助一個逗號，便可輕松應付四位以上任何龐大的數字。我們可以通過例子來說明這一點。

　　①3-5位數的讀法

　　202讀作：two hundred(and)two

　　234讀作：two hundred(and)thirty-four

　　1 234讀作：one thousand two hundred(and)thirty four

　　但是在讀法上須注意以下幾點：

　　a.在英式英語中，一個數的最后兩位(十位和個位)得用"and，但美式英語中則不用。如：3，077讀作：US：three thousand seventy-seven.

　　b.不定冠詞"a"只在數的開頭才和hundred，thousand等連用。試比較：

　　146讀作：ahundred(and)forty-six

　　2146讀作：twothousand，one hundred(and)forty six

　　c.1000這個整數我們說athousand，在and前我們也說a thousand，但是在一個有百位數的數目前就得說one thousand試比較：

　　1031讀作：a thousand，(and)thirty-one,

　　1150讀作：one thousand，one hundred(and)fifty

　　d.hundred，thousand和million這幾個詞的單數可以和："a"者"one"連用，但是不能單獨使用。在非正式文體中"a"比較常見；當我們說話比較準確的時候就用"one"試比較：

　　I Want to live for a hundred years.

　　The journey took exactly one hundred days.

　　e.我們常常說eleven hundred(1100)，twelve hundred(1200)等，而不說one thous and one hundred.從1100到1900之間的整數，這種說法最常見。

　　5位以上數字的讀法

　　11234讀作：eleven thousand two hundred(and)，thirty-four

　　155,721讀作：one hundred(and)fifly-fivethous and seven hundred(and)twenty-one

　　6155702讀作：six million one hundred(and)fifly-five thous and seven hundred and two

　　26000008讀作：twenty-six million and eight

　　326414718讀作：three hundred(and)twenty-six mil-lion，four hundred(and)four teen thous and，seven hundred(and)eigh-teen

　　4302000000讀作：four billion three hundred(and)two million

　　由以上一組數字可以看出，多位數由右向左每3位有一逗號，這個逗號的作用非同小可，在記憶數字時，它可以幫我們很大的忙!

　　逆向第一個逗號讀thousand；向左再推三位，第二個逗號讀million；第三個逗號讀billion；第四個逗號就是trillion。這幾個逗號的作用在于，當我們聽到若干thousand時，立即寫下這個數，并在其后打一個逗號，并留出3位；當聽到若干million，則寫下數字，并在其后打一逗號，留出6位；聽到若干billion，方法同上，在后面留出9位，后面的million、thousand依此法類推，讓所有數字各就其位。

　　例如，當你聽到"twenty thous and and four寫出20"and four"意為后一組僅有個位，即：004那么，這個數字完整地寫下來就是20004；若聽到"six million twenty thousand four hundred and twenty-three，"則第一步先寫：6020再將最后一組423寫在第一個逗號后面。完整的翠字為6020423。若聽到"One billion，one hundred and four million，twenty thousand four hundred and twenty-three"：主第一步寫出1104第二步接下去寫第三組020第三步二寫423，這樣得到的完整數字便是 1104020423，由此：見這個三位一逗號的作用有多大。只要我們在平時的訓練中加強對三位數讀寫的訓練，能分辨"ty"與"teen，并能借助這個不可缺少的"逗號"，無論數字多么大，也不會對我們造成障礙。
