考研英語部分高頻短語

　　詞組（短語）是指由兩個以上的詞語組合而成的一個有意義語法單位。英語詞組都是習慣用語，它相當于我們漢語的成語，不能隨意搭配。詞組是英語句子結構中重要的成分，不可忽視。短語通常沒有主語，也沒有謂語動詞，但是每個短語都有一定的結構和語義，在句子中形成一個重要的環節。

　　1. as a rule

　　照例；通常，一般說來；照說；

　　[例句]I go to work by bicycle as a rule.

　　平常我騎自行車上班。

　　2. in the long run

　　從長遠來看，終究；一來二去；歸根到底；

　　[例句]Sometimes expensive drugs or other treatments can be economical in the long run

　　有時昂貴的藥物或其他治療方法從長遠來看可能是比較劃算的。

　　3. for the sake of

　　為了；

　　[例句]He urged them to set aside minor differences for the sake of peace.

　　他敦促他們為了和平拋開一些小的分歧。

　　4. on sale

　　有售，上市；廉價出售；

　　[例句]The new commemorative stamps will be put on sale next week.

　　新的紀念郵票將于下星期發售。

　　5. on a large scale

　　大規模地；

　　[例句]This movement has aroused the masses on a large scale.

　　這次運動，群眾發動的面很廣。

　　6. on a small scale

　　小規模地[的]；

　　[例句]He's in business on a small scale.

　　他做的是小本生意。

　　7. in secret

　　偷偷地，暗地地；私下；

　　[例句]Members can blackball candidates in secret ballots.

　　成員可以通過無記名投票反對候選人加入。

　　8. in a sense

　　在某種意義上，在一定程度上；

　　[例句]In a sense, both were right

　　從某種意義上來說，兩者都對。

　　9. at first sight

　　乍看之下，一看到…就；

　　[例句]At first sight it looked less like a capital city than a mining camp

　　乍看上去，它不像是首府，更像是礦工村。

　　10. in sight

　　被看到；

　　[例句]There was no garage in sight, so I hitched a lift into town

　　放眼望去看不到修車廠，所以我就搭順風車進了城。

　　11. out of sight

　　看不見，在視野之外；

　　[例句]We dodged behind a pillar out of sight of the tourists.

　　我們躲到柱子后面，避開了觀光者的視線。

　　12. in spite of

　　不顧；雖然，盡管…；別看；

　　[例句]In spite of great peril, I have survived

　　雖然處境非常危險，我還是挺過來了。

　　13. on the spot

　　當場；立刻；在危險中；處于負責地位；

　　[例句]The question put me on the spot.

　　這問題一下子把我難住了。

　　14. in step

　　同步的；一致的；

　　例句]I hope my ideas are in step with public opinion.

　　我希望我的想法跟公眾輿論是一致的。

　　15. out of step

　　步調不一致；

　　[例句]He's out of step with the rest of us.

　　他和我們大家步伐不大諧調。

　　16. in stock

　　（商店等中）有現貨的；備有現貨；現存；

　　[例句]We have many patterns in stock for you to choose from.

　　我們有多種現存的式樣供你選擇。

　　總而言之，大體上；

　　[例句]In sum, the two countries are now true economic partners

　　總而言之，兩國目前是真正的經濟合作伙伴。

　　18. in tears

　　流著淚；涔涔淚下；含著眼淚；

　　[例句]He reached oratorical heights which left him and some of his players in tears.

　　演講到言辭激昂之處，他自己和他指導的一些運動員不禁熱淚盈眶。

　　19. in terms of

　　根據；用…的話；就…而言；以…為單位；

　　[例句]Basically I think he would be someone who complemented me in terms of character.

　　我基本上認為他是在性格上和我互補的人。

　　20. for one thing

　　首先，一則；

　　[例句]She was a monster. For one thing, she really enjoyed cruelty

　　她是個惡魔。一方面，她確實以殘忍為樂。
