　　1. apart 表示“分開”、“相距”、“離開”等，可以用于時間(time)、距離(distance)、關系(relation)、狀況(condition)等;另外從所表示的狀態來看，它既可表示靜態的“相距”或“相隔”;也可表示動態的“分開”或“離開”等。如：

　　The two villages are about two kilometers apart. 這兩個村莊相距約兩公里。

　　Their views are wide apart. 他們的看法相去甚遠。

　　During that time we were never apart. 在那段時間里人我們從不分離。

　　I can’t get the two things apart. 我不能把這兩樣東西分開。

　　He and his wife are living apart. 他與妻子沒有住在一起。

　　She keeps herself apart from other people. 她與別人保持距離。

　　2. 表示具體的時間或距離時，應置于其后，而不應像漢語那樣置于其前。如：

　　這兩座房子相距200米。

　　正：The two houses are 200 metres apart.

　　誤：The two houses are apart 200 metres.

　　我們倆的生日剛好相差一個月。

　　正：Our birthdays are exactly a month apart.

　　誤：Our birthdays are exactly apart a month.

　　3. 詢問相隔多遠時，要用 How far apart...?

　　你們的住處相距多遠?

　　正：How far apart do you live?

　　誤：How apart do you live?

　　4. 用于短語 apart from(在美國英語中通常用 aside from)。如：

　　①表示“除...外還有”(=besides)。如：

　　Apart from the cost, it will take a lot of time. 除了花費外，它還需要不少時間。

　　Apart from being too large, the hat doesn’t suit me. 除了太大外，這頂帽子我戴也不合適。

　　②表示“若沒有”、“除...外”(=except for)。如：

　　The article is good apart from a few spelling mistakes. 除了有幾個拼寫錯誤外，這篇文章寫得挺好的。

　　Apart from that, all goes well. 除了那事外，其它一切進展順利。

　　比較以下同義句型。如：

　　他除了鼻子外，其它哪兒都很好看。

　　正：Apart from his nose, he’s quite good-looking.

　　正：His nose apart, he’s quite good-looking.
