Demand
作動詞，表示：to ask for something forcefully, in a way that shows that you do not expect to be refused 堅決請求，強烈要求;強要

He has always demanded the highest standards of behaviour from his children.

ask
動詞：請求準許，客氣地提出要求
場景：
Can I ask you a favour?可以請你幫一個忙嗎？
We kindly ask the guests not to smoke in the hotel. 我們請客人不要在飯店內抽煙。
拓展：ask someone over for則是邀請，I asked Annie over for dinner tomorrow.我邀請Annie明天來家里晚餐。
request
動詞：正式且禮貌地提出要求（沒有強制）；多含擔心因種種原因對方不能答應的意味。
場景：We requested that the meeting be postponed to next Monday. 我們要求會議延遲到下周一。
require
動詞：（法律層面）硬性規定、要求（常用于被動）； 強調根據事業、需要或紀律、法律等而提出的要求。
場景：
Car insurance is required by law in most countries. 在多數國家，車險是法律規定需要的。
Teaching often requires a great deal of patience. 教學常需要許多耐心。
demand
動詞：強烈提出要求（一般指理直氣壯地提出強烈要求，或堅持不讓對方拒絕的要求）
場景：I demanded an explanation. 我要一個解釋。
