應征函的第一段說明寫信的緣起目的，有些專家認為不宜用分詞子句，如下列各
句作為第一句。因為這類句子被人用得大多，顯得陳腐，失去突出的特性。

Believing that there is an opportunity…… Thinking that there is a
vacancy in your company…… Having read your ad……
再比較下列三句。（a）句較差，經過修改后（b）句顯得較恰當。
１、（a）Replying to your recent advertisement in the Boston Evening

2、(a)I believe after reading your advertisement in this morning‘s
