　　今天下午，我正在家里琢磨數學難題。突然電話鈴響了起來，我連忙跑過去，一看是爸爸的手機號碼，我就接了。“爸爸，你打電話有什么事？”我問。爸爸告訴我：“你快到‘李字天橋’下的‘理查德英語培訓中心’的六樓。我在等你！”看來，爸爸是讓我去那兒學英語。雖然心里不愿意去，但是我知道非去不可，因為爸爸以前曾經說起過這件事，而且當時態度很強硬。

　　沒有多久，我就到了“理查德英語培訓中心”。當我氣喘吁吁爬到6樓時，爸爸已經等在那里了，看樣子爸爸對我的迅速到來感到滿意。爸爸先帶領我熟悉一下周圍環境。有4間小教室，教室的墻壁上寫著幾句英文，可是我不知道是什么意思。其中1間的墻上還貼有一張學生名單，我發現有一個同學叫胡周燁，他可是我的同班同學，看到他在這兒學習，奇怪的是我剛剛來時的緊張心情一下子變得輕松多了。還有2間辦公室和1間會議室。爸爸一邊給我“打氣”，一邊帶我走進了一間辦公室，抬頭就看見2個老外正在上網。爸爸鼓勵我跟老外打招呼，可我就是張不了嘴，說不了話，也許太緊張了。接著，爸爸又把我領到另1間辦公室，這兒只有1個中國老師，爸爸叫他“袁老師”。爸爸向他說明情況后，他就對我開始了英語測驗，也可以說是給我一個“下馬威”吧？他問我：“What’s your name ?” 我一聽就知道在問我的名字，于是我回答說：“My name is Shi pu.”接著他又問“How old are you?”我坦然地說：“twelve。”這時，他又拿出了英語卡片，讓我認英語字母，這可是“小菜一碟”，他手指那里我就說那里，毫不遲疑。可讓我認單詞，就有些經受不住考驗了。過了一會兒，他又問起了問題：

　　“Do you like apple?”我馬上說：“No. I like banana”。這幾個來回之后，爸爸也大吃一驚，因為爸爸不知道我會這幾招，連聲稱贊我。最后，他問：“Do you have any pencil ?”我說：“No.”沒想到居然被我歪打正著了，我好不高興。英語測驗總算結束了。袁老師總結說：“英語基礎不錯。插入6年級班。明年讀初一。”就這樣，我通過面試被光榮錄取了。

　　這次去“理查德英語培訓中心” 面試，我的心情從緊張到自信，最后到光榮錄取，真是功夫不負有心人。過去爸爸常常督促我讀英語，聽英語，看英語，少看了不少電視，也挨了不少罵，現在有了回報，我真的.非常高興，也非常感謝爸爸對我的嚴格教育，否則今天的英語口語測試就不會這么順利了。

Once in Turpan Depression, one has a feeling that as if he was in a land of grapes, The Grape Gauge, about 8 kilometers in length, is one with grapevines grown on the slopes of the both sides, and deep into the Gauge, there is a tourist resort, shaded by grapevines and from late June to early October, clusters of grapes hanging overhead and the mineral water flowing from under the rocks make the resort a great attraction. In fact, the city proper itself is one that is surrounded or covered by grapevines. Many streets themselves are vineyards or trellises with grapevines, together with the fruit stands the whole city is a mixture of the fruit orchard and market, since 1990, the Grape festival held in the city becomes a great attraction not only to business people, but people from all over the world.

　　In history, Turpan was the capital of ancient Gaochang Kingdom (from the sixth century) and later the administration residence of Xizhou. It was a very important juncture on the Silk Road through which the western cultures and Chinese culture encountered and crashed and exchanged. A great many historical sites and cultural relics have remained. And the city is known as a “natural museum of man and culture.

　　The major tour sites of the area of the Northern Part of South Xijiang centered by Turpan: the Flaming Mountains, the Moon Lake, Grape Gouge, Karez System, the Ruins of ancient City of Jiaohe, the ruins of ancient City of Gaochang, Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves, Emin Minaret, Astan-Kharakhoja Tombs, Sand Dune Park, the Sand Plant Park.
