英語說No的藝術
同樣是拒絕，必須懂得用不同的方式、恰當的詞匯來得體地說No，如果你只懂一個No，未免太簡單粗暴。沒關系，今天小編教你英語說No的藝術!
There are actually many ways of saying no, different words express different nuance: 有很多種方法說“No”，每種方式都有細微的區別
1. Nope
Nope is a very casual way of saying no: Nope是特別輕松、口語的方式
If you didn't have the "e" at the end, you will get "nop[nɑp]" not "nope [nəʊp]": 上次Yes里面我們說過“Yup”，現在又有了“Nope”，都可以在后面加個“p”音，只是拼寫不同，不是“Nop”而是“Nope”.
"Nope" sounds more friendly and relaxed, whereas "no" can sound too strong: Nope的語氣跟No相比更友善、更輕松，有時候“No”會顯得太強硬
怎么用?
- Adam do you wanna join me for lunch?
- No
(好像默默得罪了人的感覺。)
但假如
- Adam, do you like your lunch?
- Nope.
It's rejection after all. They are all going to be negative, but "nope" adds more positivity:其實所有的No都是拒絕，但是"nope" 可以起到緩解語氣的作用
2. Nah
這也是一個軟化語氣的詞，感覺比Nope更客氣。
“Nah”聽起來是你經過猶豫、思考才拒絕的，能給對方面子。
比如同樣的例子：
- Adam, do you wanna join me for lunch?
- Nah, I'd better stay in the office.
It doesn't sound that harsh: 這聽起來就沒有那么強硬
Be careful don't make it sound like a sheep's bah: 發音的時候別壓得太扁，不然聽起來像羊在叫
3. Uh-uh
這個詞和上次Yes節目里講的uh-huh很像。
大家找不同!
Uh-uh: no
uh-huh: yes
光看字很搞，聽讀音一下就明白。多聽Jenny, Adam uh-uh幾次哦!
另外，常看美劇的朋友可以想象一個黑人女生，一手叉腰、一手搖擺的畫面，
她們這個動作，通常會配Uh-uh。
In the "Yes" show, there was another word similar to this: 上次講“Yes”我們也說過一個很像的詞
It's quite similar, just the spelling is different: 是很像，就是拼法不一樣
誰愛用uh-uh?
Black women: 黑人女生
Children: 小孩兒
Uh-uh sounds a bit whiny: uh-uh聽起來有點抱怨、有點作
Guys don't use this too often: 男的不太用這個uh-uh
Guys are more forceful, so they'll use somethingf like "no way": 男生說no會更強硬一些，比如用“No way”↓↓
4. No way/No way, Jose
No way也是美國人口語里超喜歡用的。相信大家都知道它的意思：沒門兒
不過你知道它還有一個版本嗎?
No way Jose!
注意Jose的讀音：hoʊ'zeɪ
Jose is a common Spanish name: Jose是個很常見的西班牙語名字
There're many Hispanics in America, so there's a huge Spanish langugage influence: 美國拉美人很多，所以西班牙語的影響也很大
為什么No way Jose?
Jose is like the "average Joe". It's a common name: Jose就像“老王”， 是個滿大街可見的名字
It doesn't mean a particular person. It just rhymes: 不是特指某個Jose, 主要是押韻
It's a quite cute and fun expression: 是個挺輕松、可愛的說法
But it's still strong and firm: 但是依舊透著一種堅定
怎么用?
Between friends: 朋友之間用
比如，讓Adam去相親：
- Adam, I've found a perfect girl for you. You should totally go out with her.
- Uh-uh. No way, Jose
當然不要跟你的老板說No way Jose. (即使他的名字就叫Jose......)
- Can you get me the report by 4 pm?
- No way, Jose XXX
5. No Siree/No Siree Bob
"Yes"節目里說道"Yessir"的說法，No這里呢，有“No Siree”
Sometimes they even say "no siree Bob". I don't know who Bob is. It doesn't matter: 有時也會說“no siree Bob”，但是這里的Bob沒有任何意思，就像Jose一樣，只是一個很常見的名字。
Siree不是Siri
If you're talking to your iPhone you say "No, Siri [siri]," but if you are rejecting someone, you say “No, Siree [sə'ri]”: “No Siri”的發音也要注意，跟iPhone里的Siri不一樣哦。
怎么用?
- "Did you drink any wine with dinner tonight?: 今晚晚飯喝酒了嗎?
- "No, Siree. No I did not": 沒有，沒喝酒”
It's really not about asking you if you want something. It's probably more about if you did something：“No Siree”多用于否定做過某件事
“No Siree” can also apply when someone offers you a drink, but you're driving, so you can say:
-"No Siree, I'm driving tonight": 如果有人給你一杯酒，但你開車不能喝，這時候可以用這個說法
所以就是尊重、鄭重地拒絕
6. Not in a million years
現在看一個和時間相關的說法：
再用Adam相親的例子：
- Adam, you should totally go out with the girl. She is perfect for you. You should really meet her: Adam, 你一定要去見見那個女孩兒，她太合適你了，你應該跟她去約個會
- Not in a million years: 一百萬年也不會發生(絕對不可能!)
a million: 一百萬
a million years: 一百萬年
“Not in a million years" means we could wait a million years, and we would still be waiting: "not in a million years" 就是永遠不會發生
This is a fixed expression, so you can't change it to "not in ten years" or "not in a hundred years": 這是一個固定表達，你不能隨便把一百萬年改成10年、100年其它的數字
7. Not for all the tea in China
中國茶葉和No有什么關系?
大家推斷一下......
>China has a lot of tea: 中國有很多茶
>So when you say "not for all the tea in China": 所以當你說“not for all the tea in China"
>it means that even if you give me all the tea in China, I'll still say "no": 引伸的意思就是即使你把全中國的茶葉都給我，我依然還是拒絕你
外國人的思維有意思吧!這個說法，大家是否已經牢牢記住了?
怎么用?
當有人讓你做不情愿或你絕對不會做的事時，就可以說
“Not for all the tea in China!"
It's like the last one. It's not gonna happen. Forget about it: 所以跟上一個not in a million years很像，指絕對不可能發生的事
8. Not on your Nelly
我們從中國到英國
This is an English expression, just like "Rightio" which means "yes": 這是很英式的一種表達，就像表達yes的“Rightio”
If you have any British friends, you can make them laugh: 如果你有英國朋友，說這句，他們一定會被你逗笑
That's something only your British friend will get: 但是只有英國朋友才聽的懂噢
Your American friends won't get it; they'll just stare at you blankly: 如果你跟老美這么講，他們肯定一臉茫然
但是今天節目其它的說法都英美國家通用哦!
